Many people have reported to me in the last few months that their Instagram feed just stopped working, and images and videos didn't load. Even when they are able to sign in and go to their profiles, their content is not loading either; So what's going on and why is your Instagram feed not loading?

Is your Instagram feed not loading? Waking up to see that your feed is not loading any images, videos, or Reels, and you are unable to even see your own content, is not a great way to start your day.

If you depend on the platform for contacting your friends and family or having your work unavailable to your followers, for some content creators, this is a nightmare, so here’s all you need to know.

The most common issues with the Instagram Feed

There are many reasons why Instagram’s feed not working, from the social media platform having technical issues, the application crashing, or you got a new update that made it unusable, you need to know what’s causing the problem before proceeding.

A few most common issues that we will discuss in this article include:

  • The Instagram feed is not loading any posts, such as images, videos, and Reels.
  • You can’t play or see any stories, and you’re unable to even see your own story.
  • Your profile’s feed is not loading the content that you have uploaded in the past.
  • You can only sign in and access your profile and account’s settings.

Are you having the same issues? If so, proceed to the next section to learn more about the cause.

Why is my Instagram Feed not loading?

So what’s preventing your Instagram feed from loading? Well, there may be quite a few reasons, but most of the time you can figure out what’s wrong by following a few simple steps. You can learn more about the most common reasons for Instagram feed not loading in the following list:

  • You have installed a new update that is causing the issue.
  • You are using the beta version of the app.
  • Your phone needs some tweaks.
  • You got periodically banned by Instagram’s bots.

Unfortunately, the most common reason behind Instagram’s feed not loading is the periodic block from the platform’s system. If you used a third-party application to gain statistics that Instagram itself doesn’t provide on the people who have unfollowed you recently, who are your top followers, or even to increase your followers, then there’s a good chance that you got banned from the platform.

Instagram is also blocking users for comments or content they’ve published that does not follow its terms of use. And based on the cause of the block, your Instagram feed will stay hidden for 1 to 3 days, to even a whole 6 months of waiting. For comments, most people who contacted me, waited from 7 days to a little more than 2 months for their feed to start to work again.

How to fix the Instagram Feed not loading

If you got banned from Instagram, you can’t do much to resolve the issue, as it is a periodic block and the accounts are getting back to the algorithm’s “safe list” after a while, depending on how big was the cause of the block. With all that in mind, you can visit Instagram.com/Hacked (it’s not only for hacked accounts), and send a request for the team to look at your account if it’s the system’s fault.

But if it’s not, I wouldn’t suggest you bother them, even if you used a third-party app “without knowing you’re getting banned”, which is crazy because you already accepted Instagram’s terms of use before registering your account in the social media platform.

If you don’t think you got banned, then visit Downdetector.com website and check if other users are reporting issues and are based close to your location, as servers tend to run into many different errors and problems (believe me, I know). You can also try and reset the app by clearing its cache and data from your phone’s settings, or even replacing it with the beta version, which may work if the main app isn’t.

Other times, having the beta version installed may be the issue, as beta versions don’t always get trusted updates, and this is why only testers are using them.

Conclusion…

If you’re lucky, then your app or cache may have crashed, and doing a quick reset will resolve the issues you are experiencing. Other times, restarting your device may be the ultimate saviour, or even uninstalling and re-installing the app may solve the problem.

But if you tried everything, hours or days have passed and it doesn’t seem that Instagram’s servers are experiencing issues, your account has probably been blocked.

If you got banned because of a third-party app that you’ve used that didn’t meet Instagram’s terms of use or a comment got reported, then you’ll have to wait until the Instagram feed starts to load again. There’s not much that you can do, and logging too often into your account trying to access your feed may result in more waiting time, so just take a sit and wait for the algorithm to do its thing.
